OpenAI在X发文宣布，ChatGPT新支持GPT-4.1、GPT-4.1 mini模型。
GPT-4.1系列有助于软件工程师使用ChatGPT进行程序代码编辑和调试，与去年推出的GPT-4o相比，GPT-4.1在程序设计和指令遵循方面表现更好，运行速度优于o系列推理模型，面对编码需求可作为o3、o4-mini的替代品。
OpenAI逐步向ChatGPT Plus/Pro/Team付费订阅用户开放GPT-4.1，另外GPT-4.1 mini则向所有ChatGPT用户提供服务。随着新的模型加入，OpenAI将在ChatGPT移除适用所有用户的GPT-4.0 mini。

今年4月，OpenAI通过API推出GPT-4.1及GPT-4.1 mini、GPT-4.1 nano，只开放开发者选用。
当时AI社交媒体纷纷批评OpenAI在没有发布安全报告的情况下发布GPT-4.1，似乎降低了模型透明度。OpenAI也澄清此事，尽管GPT-4.1在性能与速度优于GPT-4o，但并非一款前沿模型，认为不需要采取安全报告这样的做法。
以OpenAI的标准安全评估来看，GPT-4.1与GPT-4o表现相当。
“GPT-4.1并未引进新模态或与模型互动的新方式，其智能程度也没有超越o3。”负责OpenAI模型安全的海德克（Johannes Heidecke）在X表示，“尽管这款模型的安全考量不容忽视，但与前沿模型相比，其安全要求有所不同。”
